The Healing Center and Su Casa

These two centers that service the Hispanic population are both vital site which I never knew existed. The presenter at the Healing site was very passionate about her job and this shows how devoted she is to serving her clients. The healing center is resourceful in a variety of ways, it is good to know that I can refere my students' parents there to learn English, acquire basic computer skills, get legal help, visit the free store food Bank, the clothing store and even the spiritual aspect of the place. It was also good to know that I can take students and other groups to donate and volunteer. The center is well-structured and can serve a wide group of people given it there is no strict income restriction.

The summer program at Su Casa is the greatest benefit to parents given that they can drop off  their children there all day which gives them the opportunity to work and support themselves. While the there, the center offers a lot of educational programs for the children. Another service which will be very beneficial for my students at Su Casa is the GED program and could be better developped.

  1. I appreciate your insight about the benefit of Su Casa to the parents. This is not an aspect that I had considered while we were there. It leads me to wonder if there are any other organizations that offer childcare in a similar manner to those who live outside of Carthage. I wonder if there are grants available to offer such services in other high need areas of the city.
