Jacqueline Rioja Velarde

My favorite nugget from Jacqueline Rioja Velarde's delightful and informative talk was when she talked about one part of her changing cultural identity was as the mother of a T. C. K. ( Third Culture Kid.) I have international friends and their family's identities include that kid whose cultural identity is different from each of the parents. I also appreciate how she illustrated the stages of acculturation by sharing about her life story.
I think that the Center for American and World Culture at Miami University is lucky to have her as their Associate Director. Based on her comment,  I have looked on line about a restaurant I have frequently driven past in my own community, founded by one of Ohio's entrepreneurial Latinas.
